Chinese Herbal Medicine in San Jose
RELIEF CAN START HERE.
Personalized herbal formulas for pain, digestive disorders, menopause, hot flash, sleep, stress and other chronic Conditions.
Modern, Convenient Chinese Herbal Medicine
At Restoration Herb and Acupuncture, we use concentrated Chinese herbal granules—modern powdered extracts that are convenient and easy to take. There is no need to boil or cook raw herbs. Simply dissolve the prescribed granules in warm water, making herbal medicine easy to incorporate into your daily routine, whether at home, at work, or while traveling.
Your herbal formula is individually prescribed based on your health history, current symptoms, and Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis. Rather than using the same formula for everyone, your prescription may be adjusted over time as your symptoms and treatment needs change.

Why Choose Dr. Lee for Chinese Herbal Medicine?
1. Comprehensive Consultation & TCM Diagnosis
Dr. Lee believes that good treatment begins with understanding the person, not simply the diagnosis. She takes time to listen carefully to your concerns and ask detailed questions about your health history, current symptoms, sleep, digestion, energy, stress, and other changes you may have noticed.
She also performs traditional tongue and pulse examinations and considers how your symptoms and clinical findings fit together. This careful process of TCM pattern differentiation helps Dr. Lee determine the treatment strategy before deciding which herbal formula to prescribe.
2. Looking Beyond the Primary Complaint
Patients often come in with one main concern, but Dr. Lee pays attention to symptoms that may seem unrelated. Changes in sleep, digestion, bowel movements, energy, temperature, stress, pain, or other body functions may provide important clues to the overall clinical picture.
Rather than focusing only on the symptom that brought you into the office, Dr. Lee looks for patterns and relationships among your symptoms to better understand what may be contributing to your condition.
3. Integrating TCM with Your Medical Information
Dr. Lee understands that your Western medical information is also an important part of your health story. When relevant, she takes the time to review laboratory results, imaging reports, medications, diagnoses, and other medical records you provide.
She considers this information together with your health history, symptoms, tongue and pulse findings, and TCM assessment. This allows her to approach your care with a broader understanding of what is happening with your health.
4. Individualized Herbal Prescriptions
Dr. Lee does not select an herbal formula based on a diagnosis alone. Two patients with the same Western diagnosis—or very similar symptoms—may present with different TCM patterns and therefore require different treatment strategies.
After identifying your individual pattern, Dr. Lee selects an appropriate formula and, when needed, customizes it by adding, removing, or adjusting individual herbs to better match your specific clinical presentation.
5. Doctor-Led Clinical Care
Your herbal care is personally evaluated, prescribed, and monitored by Dr. Xin Ling Lee, a California Licensed Acupuncturist and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM).
Dr. Lee believes patients should understand what is happening with their health and the reasoning behind their treatment. She takes time to listen to your questions, discuss your concerns, and explain the clinical reasoning behind her recommendations. You are not simply given an herbal formula—you are cared for by the doctor who evaluated you and developed your treatment strategy.
6. Ongoing Evaluation & Thoughtful Adjustment
Dr. Lee also pays attention to how your health changes after treatment. Improvement in one symptom, the appearance of a new symptom, or changes in your overall condition can provide useful clinical information.
When appropriate, she reassesses your condition and adjusts the treatment strategy or herbal formula accordingly. The goal is not to keep you on the same formula indefinitely, but to make thoughtful clinical decisions based on your individual needs.
